The growth of e-commerce is undeniably related to the growth of m-commerce and app-purchases. Mobile advertising spendings are predicted to increase to 232.34 billion dollars worldwide. Worldwide traffic in mobile data is supposed to grow by 2021 with 300%. More and more consumers are using smartphones: they spend more time than ever before on their smartphone and their time in app represents more than 80% of the total amount of time spent on their phone.
Mobile apps have many advantages: higher speed, always up-to-date, easily reachable for the customer. The most important advantage is that they can be personalized through loyalty programs, direct communications, geolocation, etc. That is the reason why conversion rates are much higher on m-commerce than on w-commerce.
The e-commerce sector is continuously evolving and it is therefore crucial that the sector responds to the newest trends: customer journey wise (GfK, customer-care.ai, Smile & MIVB/STIB & Freedility), technology wise, logistic wise (PostNL), but also payment wise (Payconiq by Bancontact).
This year, the Mobile Summit will take place in the headquarters of Beci (Brussels Enterprises Commerce & Industry). Beci is the result of a partnership between the Chamber of Commerce and the Federation of Enterprises in Brussels: two private non-profit organizations that are financed and managed by their members. Beci represents two thirds of the employment in Brussels and more than 35,000 companies.
